The feeding behavior of sharks varies. Seventy to eighty percent of the diet of most shark species is bony fishes. A small percentage feed on invertebrates such as octopus and crabs. Some sharks, such as the great white and tiger shark, specialize on marine mammals and reptiles. Cannibalism in sharks is common with many apex shark predators feeding on smaller shark species.
