Appearing like one of the aliens from the movie, The Abyss, this planktonic sea slug, known as a pteropod, propels itself with its wing-like appendage flapping it very much like a bird in flight. Its wing plate can span up to 16cm in length. It feeds by creating a mucus feeding web that can reach 2m in diameter. Learn more about pteropods.
