This very rare and special sea creature is the female blanket octopus. This open ocean inhabitant is rarely found off the waters of Palm Beach, FL. In fact, this sighting was the first I’ve had in 30 years of diving. Juveniles blanket octopus are known to rip the stinging arms of a Portuguese Man-of-War to use for their own protection.
