This rare juvenile scalloped ribbonfish belongs to the family Trachipteridae. Some species in this family of deep water pelagic fish have been known to grow to over 26ft in length. This juvenile ribbonfish was about half an inch in body size with its ribbon-like appendages extending past 2 inches.
