Trumpetfish feverishly hunt during all hours of the day. They will use a number of feeding behaviors to capture prey. One unusual feeding technique involves shadowing above a nonthreatening fish, such as this french angelfish, as it swims along the reef. The trumpetfish will use the angelfish to cloak its own appearance and allow it to approach much closer to its prey. This unique feeding behavior is called shadow feeding or nuclear hunting.
