The blue ringed octopus is one of the most venomous creature in the ocean. This tiny octopus, which grows no larger than 8 inches, has a powerful toxin that can immobilize and kill a person unless given CPR until the toxin dissipates. This toxin, called tetrodotoxin, is produced by a symbiotic bacteria that lives in the blue ringed octopus’ saliva. Tetrodotoxin is also found in pufferfish and cone snails.
