Cephalopods, like this octopus, can change color thanks to chromatophores. Inside the chromatophore cells are sacs called cytoelastic sacculus that are filled with pigments such as yellow, red, brown, or black, Contracting or relaxing muscles around these chromatophore cells exposes more or less of this pigmentation allowing for fast color changing abilities.
