Mating green sea turtles

During turtle nesting season, male sea turtles will court a female by nuzzling her head or gently biting the back of her neck and rear flippers. If the female is receptive, he will attach himself to the back of her shell using a pair of claws on his front flippers. These mating green sea turtles were observed at the surface. They soon returned underwater where the male continued to stay attached to the female green sea turtle even while she swam. Learn more about mating sea turtles behavior.
