Mahi-mahi or dolphin-fish possess specialized cells called chromatophores that contain pigments, allowing them to change color and communicate with other fish. Additionally, these chromatophores play a role in thermoregulation, as they can expand or contract to absorb or reflect solar radiation, helping the fish regulate its body temperature.
